"On July 19th, National Words With Friends Day recognizes friendly competition and smart wordplay. The celebration also honors the 2009 launch of the popular game franchise! Since before the invention of the dictionary, people have challenged each other with word puzzles and games. The day honors the intellectual spirit and camaraderie that comes with playing word games. With the advent of the internet, games like Words with Friends introduced us to a whole new level of competition. Not only could we connect with friends through the games we played, but we could also challenge ourselves to new levels of word knowledge with more people than ever before. Whether you play to pass the time or take each challenge to heart, July 19th is the day to play!"
My notes: I haven't played this. I honestly prefer the physical games & board games.

"National Raspberry Cake Day makes today as sweet as a summer day can be. Tender raspberries are among the best of fruits that nature has to offer. Put them into a cake......Then, you can "have your fruit and eat it, too!" Raspberries are one of summers sweet, fruity treats. And, the harvest is going on right now. So, it's only appropriate that we enjoy a piece of raspberry cake in celebration of the harvest.
Here is our three step recipe for a perfect National Raspberry Cake Day: Go out to a "pick your own" farm and pick them fresh. Bring the kids along. Bake fresh raspberries into a cake (or two). Eat some raspberry cake with family and friends."
My notes: Never had raspberry cake! Altho I do like raspberries. What about you?

"National Day Calendar celebrates the beauty of International Retainer Day on July 19. This International Day challenges you to make a commitment to your beautiful smile. We are using today to learn about what’s behind keeping a straight and beautiful smile years after orthodontic treatment: your retainer. Retainers were invented in the early 1900s and help stop teeth from shifting so your smile stays nice and straight. If you don’t wear your retainer after orthodontic treatment, your teeth tend to shift. They may even relapse to their old crooked positions."
My notes: I didn't realize they were different from braces. The difference I have read: Braces can't be taken out by the patient whereas Retainers can be. Anybody had either of them? I haven't. While my teeth aren't overly straight, never justified the cost & irritation of fixing them to this extreme.
